Western Serves Animals at Operation Kindness Shelter

Making an Impact and Some Furry Friends

On December 5, our entire staff of Western Healthcare spent the afternoon volunteering at Operation Kindness – North Texas’ original and largest no-kill animal shelter.

Since 1976, Operation Kindness has provided extensive medical care and housing for nearly 100,000 homeless animals. The facility serves as the “go-to” hub for over 45 municipal shelters and rescue groups who are completely out of space or have animals needing medial services.

With the help and coordination from the wonderful personnel at the shelter, our staff split off into groups to assist the shelter in any way possible. Operation Kindness provided detailed yet easy-to-follow animal handling training so each volunteer was comfortable and ready to have the best experience with each animal.

From restocking the food pantry to taking our new furry friends on walks for fresh air, our staff was beyond excited to lend a helping hand. Other activities included loading donation items onto several vans, organizing animal crates, and writing personalized “thank you” notes to families who recently adopted an animal from the shelter.

“Our staff takes pride in helping the community each and every year. This will be a volunteer event we’ll never forget!” said WH President Trey Davis. “We had a blast and are grateful to Operation Kindness for allowing us to serve the animals.”

After a busy afternoon of volunteer work and bonding with our furry friends, one of our staff members adopted a kitten. Congrats!
